Araknis AN-520-AP-O AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 Outdoor Access Point

Product Details

Extend Fast Wi-Fi 6 Coverage Outdoors

The Araknis AN-520-AP-O is a dual-band AX3000 outdoor Wi-Fi 6 access point designed for patios, yards, pool areas, courtyards, guest houses, outdoor entertainment spaces, and exterior work areas.

This is a wireless access point, not a router. It requires an existing router/network plus a compatible PoE power source.

Wi-Fi 6 Performance

  • IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax Wi-Fi support
  • 2×2 SU-MIMO and MU-MIMO
  • 2 spatial streams per radio
  • 2.4GHz peak PHY rate: 574Mbps
  • 5GHz peak PHY rate: 2400Mbps at 160MHz
  • AX3000 aggregate peak PHY class
  • 20, 40, 80, and 160MHz channel widths
  • OFDMA uplink and downlink
  • Up to 1024-QAM
  • BSS Coloring and Target Wake Time

The advertised 3000Mbps figure is an aggregate theoretical PHY rate, not a guaranteed internet or real-world throughput speed. Actual performance depends on client capability, channel width, interference, distance, network equipment, and internet service.

2.5 Gigabit Wired Backhaul

  • 1 × 2.5G BASE-T Ethernet PoE input
  • 1 × 1G BASE-T Ethernet data/PoE-out port
  • 2.5GbE input is suitable for multi-gig network backhaul

A 2.5GbE switch is not required for basic operation, but a multi-gig connection helps avoid a 1Gbps wired bottleneck when compatible Wi-Fi clients and network equipment are used.

Important PoE Power Requirements

The AN-520-AP-O does not use a separate DC power input. Power is supplied through Ethernet.

  • IEEE 802.3at PoE+ supports full Wi-Fi functionality when the internal heater is off
  • IEEE 802.3bt PoE++ supports full Wi-Fi functionality with the heater operating
  • 802.3bt PoE++ is required to enable the downstream PoE-out function
  • PoE-out supplies up to approximately 15W to a compatible connected device

When powered by 802.3at PoE+ during conditions that require the internal heater, Araknis specifies reduced Wi-Fi functionality. For installations that need full cold-weather performance or PoE-out, use a compatible 802.3bt PoE++ source.

Power a Nearby Network Device

When the access point itself receives sufficient 802.3bt PoE++ power, its 1GbE secondary Ethernet port can provide data and approximately 15W PoE output to a nearby compatible device such as an IP camera.

The downstream device must fit within the supported PoE-out power limit.

Wi-Fi Management and Security

  • OvrC remote management
  • Local web-interface configuration
  • Up to 9 SSIDs per radio / 18 total SSIDs
  • WPA3 and WPA3-SAE support
  • WPA2 support for compatible legacy devices
  • 802.1Q VLAN support per BSSID
  • Band Steering
  • Fast Roaming
  • DFS support
  • Wireless client isolation
  • Rate limiting
  • Wi-Fi scheduling
  • Maximum-client controls

Fast Roaming for Multi-AP Networks

Fast Roaming uses IEEE 802.11r and 802.11k to help compatible devices transition between Araknis access points broadcasting the same SSID.

Client devices must support the relevant roaming standards, and Araknis does not guarantee seamless roaming compatibility with access points from other manufacturers.

Outdoor Installation

  • IP55 weather-resistant housing
  • Wall mounting supported
  • Optional pole-mount accessory available separately
  • Bottom or rear cable entrance
  • Kensington lock provision

For outdoor use, install the access point according to Araknis weatherproofing instructions. The ports must face downward, cable entrances must be properly sealed, and shielded Cat5 or better cable is recommended.

Physical Specifications

  • Dimensions: 13.08 × 8.04 × 1.34 inches
  • Weight: approximately 2.96 lb
  • Operating humidity: up to 90% non-condensing
  • 2-year limited manufacturer warranty

What Is Included

  • Araknis AN-520-AP-O outdoor access point
  • Mounting bracket
  • Wall-mount screws and anchors
  • Weatherproofing inserts and plugs

PoE switch or injector, router, Ethernet cable, and optional pole-mount accessories are sold separately.
